Single Review: Till The Fall – Le Cirque Des Damnes

The UK is vibrant with up and coming bands that are still being unheard by the general metal fan. Some of these bands deserve recognition for trying something different and having the ability to write songs that get you off your ass and mosh your ass off in your bedroom/venue or club. One such band is sextet Till The Fall from Crewe who like to infuse groove into their songs and have hit the scene with a bang and made people take notice. Till The Fall like their hard rock and have taken it upon themselves to release their debut single “Le Cirque Des Damnes” from the upcoming album, The Seventh Circle, out in April. So, what can we expect from their debut single…. let’s find out!

Starting off with a drum solo and melodic guitar intro, I immediately have a Mötley Crüe and Skid Row type feel before vocalist Cal comes in with his high pitch screams that are not far away from Vince Neil but also have the hint of Bruce Dickinson. Even though I am a huge death metal fan, we all had our glam phase where we liked Mötley Crüe, Skid Row, Poison et al…didn’t we? So this track was a nice trip down nostalgia lane. There is quite a catchy groove in their riffs while not being Pantera in their heaviness, there is certainly enough to get people moving in the live front. There is a likeness to Iron Maiden’s “2 Minutes to Midnight” here and there but Till The Fall add their own hard rock to the mix and with the majority of the band all sharing vocal duties, they do add something different. I love a band having more than one vocalist as it adds so much diversity to the song and this no exception with a segment towards the end of the song that on first take sounded like latter day Jeff Walker from Carcass. Overall a promising single from the band culminating in Skid Row type solos bringing the track to a close.

Overall, this is a promising start for a band in their infancy. After repeated listens, it definitely grows on you and I must admit, I may have sang along to the chorus. They also have another single out from this album called “Down In Flames” which is much heavier than this one and in parts borders on thrash metal, especially the beginning. It is therefore impossible to define the band in one category other than playing metal for metal’s sake. Give the band a listen and like their page and get in contact with them. We all need to start somewhere and “Le Cirque Des Damnes” is a promising start.

Le Cirque Des Damnes is out March 13th
