Manchester punk/grunge rockers Witch Fever have released their third single “Daddy Pt 2” as a double A-side (along with “Toothless”) on red vinyl through Brassneck Records as a limited edition – and I had the pleasure of a sneaky preview prior to its release on the 30th November. And you are definitely gonna want to listen to it via the link below!
Witch Fever have just returned from a handful of successful dates in Netherlands and Belgium in association with all-female promoters Girls Go Boom. They headlined their self-curated charity night in aid of a Cancer support organisation in Manchester on 16th Nov and also are thrilled to be playing at Punks 4 West Papua along with The Blinders & The Membranes.
Opening with an immediately catch riff (courtesy of Alisha Yarwood), penetrated by Annabelle Joyce battering the drums alongside Alex Thompson’s ominous bass lines, the intro gathers momentum before Amy Walpole’s sharp and punky tones come screeching through “Forgive me, Father” and here the track explodes into a grungy/punk fest. Imagine Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes teaming up with PJ Harvey. I know, right?
Angry, pent up frustrations are spewed out as the track barrages along, guitars becoming dirtier, the drumming more feral and as the video shows unarguably, this band need to be seen live. A balance of haunting vocals and filthy hard rock show these girls are top of the game in the noise punk rock stakes. If you haven’t checked out Witch Fever yet, what are you waiting for?!
