What a bloody gig this was!!

If I am honest I wasn’t expecting much from this gig as I thought it was going to be some sort of a gimmick despite the fact the band had Joe Perry and Alice Cooper in it. How wrong I was as this was far from some mates going on a world tour for shitz and giggles.
Before they came out on stage we had support from The Tubes. I don’t like being negative but I just didn’t get this band as a support. It didn’t work for me, especially when mainland Europe had been treated to the awesome Those Damn Crows. I am not saying they are a bad band , they just didn’t fit the bill tonight.
Anyway, The Hollywood Vampires… Just, wow. Joe Perry was in the form of his life last night and gave the best performance I have ever seen from him, full of energy and every note he played was on point. Perry is one of those people who you look at and you just see a legend. His dress sense and the way he carries himself just stands out.
Alice cooper delivered a solid performance as expected. Great vocals as always. You know Alice is never going to let you down.
Now it was safe to say a large portion of the crowd didn’t really know any of the songs being played and they clearly didn’t care because, yes, Johnny Depp was in the room and that was the sole reason they was here. Instagram selfie and location tag overload! Oh and quite a few “fuck Amber” screams here and there.

I wasn’t really sure what to expect from Johnny but I was pleasantly surprised. He is a good guitarist and he can hold a tune on the vocal duties as demonstrated with “Heroes”. I liked the fact that this wasn’t the Johnny show. You could tell he knew his place within the band and played his part perfectly.
Now Tommy Henriksen is billed as one of the four Vampires and so he should be. He has some big legends to share the stage with but that did not faze him at all. I would go as far to say that Tommy is the backbone of the band. He pulls it all together on stage.
I really enjoyed this gig, one of the best of the year for me and it was great hearing the likes of “Walk This Way”, “People Who Died” and “Baba O”Riley” played live.
However I was the victim of my own stupidity last night as I left during the last song to beat the traffic… or what I thought was the last song! Well I woke up this morning to discover there was one more song I missed, “Paranoid” with a special guest, Tony Iommi.
Gutted!
Hollywood Vampires are a must-see band for all the right reasons.
