Well, it’s Wednesday, which for the last few weeks for me means one thing… gig night! And I have been looking forward to this one for weeks. Finally back to one of my favourite venues, The Electric Ballroom in Camden, for Wage War’s fully sold-out show.
First up are Siamese, a metalcore band from Copenhagen, Denmark. I haven’t heard much of these guys before, but I was pleasantly surprised. From the melodic riffs to the electric violin (which the player shredded as if it was a guitar) that really brought the music together. The crowd seemed to enjoy both the energetic show and charismatic frontman, who brought an element of comedy to their set.
Overall, I really enjoyed them and will definitely add them to my playlist. It’s nice to find something new when you go to a concert.
Next on stage were Ohio metalcore legends The Devil Wears Prada, a band I have been wanting to see for many years. They did not disappoint! Vocalist Mike Hranica immediately commanded a circle pit, a demand the crowd obliged, and then performed one of the most energetic sets that I have ever seen.
With all members (except obviously the drummer) jumping and thrashing about, they ran us photographers ragged. They played a mixture of both old and new music, but each and every one was a banger! They ended their set with what seemed to be both the crowd (and definitely my) favourite track “Chemical”, which sent everyone crazy.

As soon as they came on stage the crowd went wild, and they stayed wild for the whole set. I have never seen such energy from a crowd, singing along to all of the words song after song.
The band played excellently with so much energy, both Briton Bond’s and Cody Quastad’s vocals were on point and sounded exactly as they do on the latest album, Manic. In fact, the new album made up the bulk of the setlist including songs such as “Circle The Drain”, “High Horse” and “Relapse”. There was still time for old favourites like “Alive” from 2015’s Blueprints and “Stitch” from Deadweight.
I really enjoyed their set, and the evening overall. The only downside was the lack of lighting, which made being a photographer quite difficult. However, I won’t let that put a damper on what was an awesome night of music. It was just easier on the ears than the eyes!
