Canadian rockers The Sheepdogs bought their distinctive brand of southern-tinged rock to a packed OSLO in Hackney on Tuesday night.

If you closed your eyes you could easily have believed that you were at a classic rock show in the late 60s / early 70s, with the rhythmic guitar, vocal harmonies and slick riffs transporting you away from a cold, windy evening in East London.

The band played a fantastically energetic set featuring songs from their most recent album Future Nostalgia, as well as a brilliant cover of Neil Young’s “Down By The River”.

Their nostalgic songs already sound like old classics, and their unique brand of blues / country rock really sets them apart from their contemporaries.

Famously the first unsigned band to make the cover of Rolling Stone Magazine in 2011, The Sheepdogs have gone from strength to strength and have a devoted following here in the UK. Check out their lyric video for “I’m Gonna Be Myself” from their album Future Nostalgia over on YouTube.

The Sheepdogs are set to return to the UK in January 2016 supporting The Temperance Movement. Full tour dates can be found on their website.

Support on the night came from Dublin-based grunge-pop band Otherkin.
