Seprevation – Glasgow Audio

Sean will be popping up a full review of tonight’s show at Glasgow Audio shortly, but I stayed long enough to see the openers – young thrash upstarts Seprevation. Family duties called so I didn’t get a chance to see Flayed Disciple and Bonded by Blood – though interviews were conducted with all three so you have those to look forward to as well!

Seprevation are a young band in many respects – they only formed in 2011 and at a guess I’d say the members are around half my age. The gits. Despite only releasing one EP and an album (Consumed which came out on May 10th), they stormed the Bloodstock “new band” competition on their first attempt and seem to be garnering quite the following in the underground.

I am very happy to say that they deserve every bit of the praise I’ve been hearing. With only a short set to impress the small crowd (come on, Glasgow – support the support bands!) they ran through their thirty minutes with blistering pace and furious headbanging.

Their songs remind me of why I got into thrash in the first place. Every track they played had an instant hook and lasted just long enough to grab your interest before it was time for the next.

I really hope they sold a pile of CDs, and I’m definitely looking forward to their next tour. If you’re heading out to see this tour in Manchester or Nuneaton over the next two nights, make sure you get there in time to see these guys live.
