Album Review: Slipknot – Live at MSG

Another one out now, due to it being dropped in our laps with late notice… but hastily grabbed and shoved on the turntable! The vinyl version of Slipknot’s incredible Live at Madison Square Garden show arrives and a belter of a live recording it is.

One look at the tracklist shows a fairly classic selection, from opener “(sic)” through long-term favourites “Wait And Bleed” and “Duality”, to the violent throes of “People = Shit” and “Spit it Out” with its mandatory crowd interaction. Being as it is from 2009, it’s very much a “best of” from the older albums and all the better for it. This is a live show I, and I suspect a couple of million other Slipknot fans, wish they could have been at.

Production is good, the recording is spot on and everything is clear including the crowd noise and applause. There isn’t really much else to write about this album. If you’re on the lookout for a live Slipknot recording, then this is a damn good one to consider. If you’re not, then find someone who’s picked this up and listen to it anyway. Then realise than actually being at one of their shows is ten times better.
