Album Review: The Antichrist Imperium – Volume III: Satan In His Original Glory

Four years on from Every Tongue Shall Praise Satan the blasphemous quartet of The Antichrist Imperium (featuring members of Akercocke, Voices, Werewolves, and The Berzerker) return to their black hoofed best with latest album Volume III: Satan In His Original Glory.

The piano’d start of opener “The Sweetest Juice” weaves into a hypnotic swirl before the fury ensues, continuing into my highlight track of the album “The Vilest of Beasts”. Already The Antichrist Imperium have managed to surpass the previous two volumes. The elements that runs through this in conjunction with sheer unapologetic disregard for the listener’s neighbours should be applauded.

“Third Degree Baptism” sent me racing to immediately pre-order the album when the track was released back in mid-August. Both tape and CD releases feature alternative artwork and, of course, the tape was pre-ordered first with the CD to follow later! Following this masterful song we are treated to “Exorcist Evisceration” to take us to the halfway point of the album.

Layers and layers of vengefulness continue with easily the most bloodthirsty track so far, “Chapel Of The Crippled Seed”. This is nicely balanced with “Tu Verus Mundi Lucifer”.

Solos engulf “Menage A Triumvirate” likes Simon Aron’s soul before finally the chapter closes with one final ritual, “‘Misotheist”, with unsurprisingly is just as despair laden as the others.

Overloaded with infernal goodness.
