Review: Pontus – IV

Pontus Gunve - IVOne word to describe Pontus’ new EP IV would be — epic.

“Ten” lulls you into a sense of security before pummeling the album wide open. This track is instantly hooking and sets the tone for the rest of the album. IV has serious groove factor seamlessly woven into hard-hitting melodies. “El Pancho’s Last Journey” and “Red Silver” feature some of the most memorable hooks. There is also the band’s rendition of “Misirlou” which sounds good.

“Felix” is a captivating conclusion to an incredible release. A full turnaround takes place with this track, as what opened with “Ten” structurally ends the album with “Felix.” The build up to the very last verse is so fantastic.

IV is fantastic, showcasing all members’ abilities and talents. Pontus showcase a refreshing, well-articulated sound. Definitely check this release out.
