With former Band of the Day Edenfall’s second album, Under Sultry Moons and Velvet Skies, due out on May 12th I thought I’d pop up a quick review to let potential purchasers know what to expect.
Point number one is value for money. I don’t think you’ll find another album anywhere near this length being released this month. The word “opus” could have been coined to describe Under Sultry Moons and Velvet Skies.
The tone of the songs varies from light and airy to pretty heavy. The lengths of the songs and the overall feel of the album gives the impression of a musical rather than just a collection of tracks. Some of the tracks are long enough to feel like a musical within themselves!
Dark, eerie, and indeed sultry this is a very atmospheric piece.
The chance to pre-order the album so that it was in your greasy paws on release day has passed, but you’ll be able to proper-order it from May 12th via the band’s bigcartel page.
