100-Word Review: Dust Bowl Jokies – The Wicked /// Blood, Sweat & Perfume

dust-bowl-jokies-the-wickedThis is only a 2-track EP and I’m ridiculously late putting something up about it. However, I’m doing to because a) I promise the PR chap that I would and b) it cropped up on random play on my phone the other day and I’m hooked!

Track 1 – “The Wicked” – opens with a Kid Rock-esque country feel then blasts into something more akin to generic hard rock with a brilliant backing riff and pounding beat. Complete with singalong “wo-ah-oh”‘s and a guitar solo that Aerosmith would be proud of, this is – IMHO – as good as hard rock gets. tl;dr version – I love this song.

“Blood, Sweat & Perfume” reminds me more of Skid Row back on their first couple of albums. Youthful, angry and yet with an upbeat, tone this is another cracking tune.

Dustbowl Jokies are very much in my “ones to watch” pile.
