100-word review: Thalion – Dawn of Chaos

Thalion - Dawn of ChaosAnother Canadian export, Thalion’s album Dawn of Chaos is an independent release. It’s been out for a short while and you can get it from shops in their area or via their bandcamp page.

Thalion’s sound is a mixture of classic metal with an edge of speed and some tech kicking around in there. Heavy beats overlaid with twin guitars, Maiden-esque vocals and even some grooves akin to Pantera.

For your money you get eight tracks which cover quite a spectrum – the bluesy “Je Me Souviens” that wouldn’t be out of place in a cocktail lounge in parts; the epic near battle metal sound of “Ballroom of Fear”; the crushing tones of “Dawn of Chaos”; screaming guitars piercing the air in “Another Day”.

You certainly won’t get tired of it quickly. Worth a listen.
