Progressive rock- and metal project Humanness Test are back with their latest single, “Admonition”

Progressive rock- and metal project Humanness Test are back with their latest single, “Admonition”. This thought-provoking track dives headfirst into the complexities of contemporary society, delivering a searing critique of media manipulation, societal division, and the disorientation that many feel in today’s world. Originally written during the pandemic, Maurice Taylor, bassist and lyricist, described the inspiration as stemming from a time when the media amplified fear and confusion. “The ‘times’ referenced in the song go beyond the pandemic,” Taylor explains. “It’s about everything from fake news to the pressure of wokeness and how these forces sow division among us.”

The lyrics, raw and visceral, mirror the turbulence of the era. Lines like “I can see through all of the lies / On the screen / Pushing the line / And causing this great divide” reflect a growing societal unease. Yet, the song also carries an introspective tone, grappling with personal struggles and existential questions. The song doesn’t shy away from darker emotions, exploring themes of loss, self-reflection, and the search for redemption, as evident in the plaintive refrain “Save me from myself.” This blend of personal vulnerability and sharp critique makes Admonition both timely and timeless. Musically, the track channels a distinctly Queensryche-inspired vibe, balancing intricate melodies with hard-hitting rhythms to create a punchy, energetic soundscape.

“Admonition” also marks a significant milestone for Humanness Test, as it was the first track they recorded with vocalist, Marko Duplisak (LastDayHere, Inmate). His dynamic vocal range and emotive delivery elevate the band’s sound to new heights, seamlessly blending with the intricate instrumentation crafted by founding members Maurice Taylor and Chris Lucci. The track also features guest contributions from Clint Wilson on guitar and Jason Rooks on background vocals, further enriching its sonic layers. Produced by Lucci and Taylor, and meticulously mixed and mastered by Lucci, Admonition stands as a testament to the project’s evolving artistry.

Following their debut single, “Tribute” – an ode to progressive drum legend Neil Peart – “Admonition” continues Humanness Test’s journey of delivering thought-provoking music with a technical edge. The band promises more to come in 2025, building anticipation with this concise yet impactful rocker. For fans of progressive metal and rock, Admonition offers an immersive experience that bridges the personal and the universal.
