French duo Cløudy Skies has just unveiled a new music video for their song “Haze On The Way” from their recently released album Changes, which Paul reviewed at the start of the year.
The dreamgaze/atmospheric/progressive/post metal band describes the track as the perfect ending song for Changes. The video was made by Nicolas Simon with only GIF Collage and a Smartphone.

Changes just celebrated 7 months! Wow! Time flies…
We had many cool reviews from all over the world (although the French press forgot us, why? yes I know …there are too many bands). It was very interesting to read what impressed one person or what feeling had another. Some people seemed to be emotionally touched by the album. What a pleasant sensation to read that!
The physical copies travel all over the world too. I recently received a photo on Instagram with our album in a UK shop with a nice mention about us and located on a shelf close to the last King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard album. Wow! I wish people sent us photos of the album to see where we landed.
We did our first video interview (in English! Yes m’dam!) with The Chill Dude On a Couch. It was really interesting to interact “live” with him, it was more spontaneous than classic interviews and by the way we had so much fun. I hope we can have more.
A few months ago we launched the great video of “Gleams and Ghosts” made by the talented Nicolas Marrocco. It was very well received. It was a common will to make the video for a calm (most of the time) song as it is a good way to introduce our universe to folks.
We still haven’t found our drummer but I am confident… he/she will come to us. In a hurry to play the album on stage to share and to deliver a massive sound with lots of emotion.
“Haze On The Way” is a special song: it is our ending song. We composed it especially for that goal. For us there are 2 main songs on an album: the opening one and the ending one. “H.O.T.W.” gathers all the themes (mostly dreams, meaning of life and death) and moods of Changes.
When I wrote the beginning of the song with these notes that beautifully repeats and sent it to Lionel, we both knew that it would be a stunning song to end the album. We agreed that it should be simple in its structure with 2 principal states and 3 movements. So it starts as a sad shoegaze/indie/rock song, then it becomes a powerful dark blackgaze one with blast beats and finally it ends as it started: a sad and dark (end of life) indie/rock song but so peaceful at the same time. To intensify the feeling of inner peace and in some way a death journey, we made the echoes sound endlessly. It is a kind of mix between Slowdive (especially No Longer Making Time /2017) and Deafheaven (Sunbather).
So as a “main” song it deserved a video, didn’t it! I had that idea in mind: to make my own video using GIF Collage. So I worked several nights with my smartphone and I sent the first idea of Collage to Lionel. He said: “huge video”! Eventually when I finished my second edit, I asked Argonauta Records if we could do an official release and Master Gero gave me his consent.
