2000 Trees announce headliners and more additions to line-up

In what might be a small amount of light in a truly dark time for live music, 2000 Trees Festival is today announcing its final two headliners: AFI & Thrice who join Jimmy Eat World.

A word from festival organiser, James Scarlett:

Clearly these are difficult times in the world and indeed, the festival industry and it would seem that uncertainty is everyone’s new normal. However, as it stands, we’re still super hopeful that 2000 Trees 2020 can go ahead in July as planned. Obviously we don’t have a crystal ball though, so we are looking into all possible options and should the ban on gatherings continue for the next few months, we may have to look at moving 2000 Trees to later in the year. But again, as it stands, we sincerely hope this won’t be necessary.

As people can probably imagine, you don’t just magic a festival out of thin air the week before, therefore we are continuing to work behind the scenes on 2000 Trees 2020. This way we can make sure that, when we get the green light, we have everything in place to host an amazing party for everyone. And for an amazing festival, you obviously need headliners!

With that in mind, we’re very excited to let everyone know that when this has all passed, AFI and Thrice will be joining Jimmy Eat World as 2000 Trees headliners. Not only that, but we also have 16 more bands to get excited about.

For now though, the most important thing we can all do is keep looking after ourselves and in turn others, take advice from the experts and support the most vulnerable in our communities. Big love to everyone.

California’s beloved punk rock band AFI will headline on Friday 10th July. This will be the bands first festival headliner slot and first UK appearance in 3 years.

Jade Puget of AFI comments:

I was reading that 2000 Trees was started by a group of friends who said, ‘We want to start a festival,’ and I think that’s amazing. I wish that would happen all over the world, because there’s less corporate interest and when it’s being run by people that clearly love music good things can happen. Even if it’s not the biggest festival in the world, those festivals are important and they’re putting bands on the bill that may not yet be able to play those huge events and that’s incredibly important to foster.

Thrice will close out Saturday 11th July and will have the European exclusive of the band playing their incredible album, Vheissu, in full, along with all the other huge songs from their catalogue. The band recently toured this in the US for the 15th anniversary so we are excited to bring it to the festival.

Dustin Kensrue says:

Any time you can get a fresh take on the live music experience and not have it filtered through something that’s been going for too long is cool. I think this sounds really exciting, especially being out in the trees and the mud and all that!

Other bands announced today include the brilliant pop rock of Against the Current, heavy festival favourites Black Peaks, Japanese chaos that is Crossfaith, one of the most talked about new artists from Australia The Chats, including being loved by the legend that is Dave Grohl, will be coming to play their hilarious songs say:

Can’t wait to crack open a few tins and make some new mates at 2000 Trees this year, hope you’re all ready to party, see ya’s at the bar!

Yes indeed.

2000 Trees Festival is partnering with two fantastic charities this year. Stay tuned for how you can get involved in the coming months.

Attitude is Everything (registered charity number 1121975) works in partnership with audiences, artists and the live music industry to improve Deaf and disabled people’s access to live music. Suzanne Bull MBE, CEO comments:

I’m thrilled that 2000 Trees are the first music company to announce how they are going to ‘play their part’ in Attitude is Everything’s 20th Anniversary next year. 2000 Trees have chosen us as one of their charity partners: fans and guests of the festival will be able to donate to us when purchasing their tickets.

Tree Aid helps people in the drylands of Africa to lift themselves out of poverty and protect their environment. People here live in some of the toughest conditions on earth and trees are essential to their survival. Trees provide nutrition, generate income and help to create a healthy environment. Tree Aid works with local communities to help them protect and grow trees, for themselves and for future generations.
