Black Star Riders announced as Steelhouse Festival 2018 headliner

Seems it’s the season for festival announcements…

Steelhouse Festival is delighted to announce Black Star Riders’ return as one of the weekend’s main headliners for Steelhouse 2018. The festival will take place 27-29 July 2018, running for its 8th consecutive year. Promoter Mikey Evans said:

Here we go again – Steelhouse 2018. Our 8th consecutive year. We are enormously buzzed to welcome back some old friends on this first announcement!  It’s also vital to Steelhouse to continue to introduce young and hungry, exciting first-timers; this little island has produced some of the greatest rock bands to ever grace a stage and on this evidence it continues to do so. We couldn’t resist the opportunity of Black Star Riders making a return to ‘The Mountain’. They’ve gone from strength to strength since their first appearance in 2014. Top Ten albums, global touring – they are true Steelhouse headliners – a perfect fit.

Ricky Warwick said:

Black Star Riders are delighted to come back and headline Steelhouse Festival for a second time. We cannot wait to see you there… Bring your rock n roll, because we will be bringing ours.

Meanwhile as the festival officially expands to include a Friday night of rock, the “warm-up” night is now firmly a fixture of the festival. Kicking it off, and appropriately so, is fast-rising rockers, Stone Broken. Promoter Max Rhead said:

Stone Broken’s rise has been incredible and proof that rock certainly isn’t dead. You can feel the momentum that’s with them. Friday night at Steelhouse has just gone up a level. For years we’ve been putting on a ‘warm-up’ evening on the Friday, but it’s become such a pivotal part of the weekend, it now feels necessary to shout about it. We think it’s fair to say Stone Broken are the fastest-rising UK rock act out there and it just feels right and proper for such an exciting ‘new’ act to be taking the bold step of headlining the night that grew beyond a warm-up.

There’s a whole host of names announced alongside these headliners, many of whom have been featured on these pages. And with a sensible asking price, it’s since become a staple of the Summer festival season, celebrating the old and new breed of classic rock.
