Expect Saturday night in Glasgow to be even rowdier than usual as two of Ireland’s finest hardcore bands descend upon Shadow Sound for a night of booze-and-breakdown-fuelled mayhem.
Leading the charge are Last Wishes. As it’s put on the Facebook event, these lads are: ‘Can-drinking burly boys from Ireland. Members of Hollow Truth and Spittin’ Teeth playing no-bullshit, aggressive hardcore. The only thing angrier than Last Wishes’ riffs are Last Wishes’ vocals. Listen to that demo and try to tell yourself you’re not moshing. You won’t be able to tell yourself shit, coz you’ll be too busy moshing.’
Supporting the Dublin moshing maniacs are fellow Irishmen Held Back, who promise to create just as much of a scene with their brand of youth-crew hardcore.
Local support comes from Glasgow’s crossover champions Kingpin, metalcore mob Eternal War, and new kids on the block Contender. If you caught either Kingpin’s set at HorrorFly’s Infestation or Eternal War supporting Revulsion this year, you’ll already know to bring your shouting voice. And a crash helmet.
We caught up with Lev, one of the event’s promoters, and the indomitable frontman and bassist of Kingpin and Eternal War respectively: “I’m proud to be able to bring an affordable 14+ hardcore show to Glasgow with a solid bill of two touring bands from across the water, two established local big riffers, and a brand new Glasgow band. There’s a bit of something for everything and this show is a real push to keep the Glasgow scene vibrant and fresh at a price that’s affordable to anyone who wants to come and see what’s so exciting about local hardcore.”
Last Wishes, Kingpin, Eternal War, Held Back, and Contender play Shadow Sound (F.K.A. Arc Studios) on Saturday 16th April. Tickets are £3 OTD.
