I found out about this even from my daughter’s guitar tutor who’s in the one of the bands playing!
Monkhood are a Glasgow-based but otherwise international band formed in 2012. The members all come from various music schools and colleges around the city who found each other and started writing rock music influenced by the likes of Foo Fighters, The Beatles and Alice in Chains.
Their debut EP, Isolation, had an intimate listening party this week just gone and the band play their first live show as part of the event at Audio in the city centre on Thursday 14th.
Also on the bill are Hedgefriar (stoner rock), Savage Lily (funk rock) and headiners Wolf Ruby (alt rock). Tickets can be picked up in advance from etickets, but I’m sure you’ll be able to pay on the door as well. The cost for four bands and several hours entertainment? £3.20. THREE POUNDS TWENTY. Most pubs charge more for a beer.
So get your backsides down there and support your local scene! Any updates will be posted on the event’s facebook page.
