These have been kicking about for a day or two now, but go on pre-sale today, proper sale on Friday.
Swedish progsters Opeth have announced a UK tour for October in support of forthcoming eleventh studio album, Pale Communion, which is set for a 25th August release via Roadrunner Records.
Pale Communion, which was produced by Opeth mainman, Mikael Akerfeldt and mixed by longtime collaborator and friend, Steven Wilson of Porcupine Tree is available to pre-order now at http://smarturl.it/OpethStore. The release will come in multiple formats, with special deluxe editions also available.
Frontman Mike Akerfeldt also picked up the ‘Golden God’ award, the main award of the night, at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods ceremony, held at London’s Indigo2 venue last night (Monday 16th June).
In a recent interview with VICE’s Noisey, Akerfeldt intimates some details about the upcoming album as follows:
“(Opeth’s last album, 2011’s) Heritage was somewhat deliberately fucked up all over the place because I love fucked-up-all-over-the-place-type music, but I wanted to do something more melodic with this album, so there’s stronger vocal melodies and more melodies overall for this album. I was pretty consistent with that frame of mind throughout the writing process, so at least I had a plan with this album, and I normally don’t, to be honest.”
Tour dates rack up as follows;
- Fri 10th Oct – BRISTOL O2 Academy
- Sat 11th Oct – LONDON Roundhouse
- Sun 12th Oct – NOTTINGHAM Rock City
- Tue 14th Oct – GLASGOW ABC 2
- Wed 15th Oct – MANCHESTER Academy
