Festival roundup

Sonisphere, Download and B-O-A lining up for 2014
Sonisphere, Download and B-O-A lining up for 2014

There have been a load of announcements recently regarding many festivals, but to focus on what are probably the main three…

Download announced a slew of new bands this week, bringing the line-up up to around a quarter of what can be expected on the main stages. Joining headliners A7X, Linkin Park and Aerosmith are:

  • Rob Zombie
  • Fall Out Boy
  • Alter Bridge
  • The Offspring
  • Status Quo
  • Steel Panther
  • Trivium
  • In Flames
  • While She Sleeps
  • Letlive
  • The Black Dahlia Murder
  • Miss May I
  • Crossfaith
  • Blessthefall
  • Dying Fetus

Download will run from June 13th – 15th next year

Next up with a fair few bands announced is Bloodstock Open Air. Headliners in 2014 are Down, Emperor and Megadeth with all of the following (plus more to be announced!) on the Ronnie James Dio stage across the three days:

  • Hatebreed
  • Prong
  • Flotsam and Jetsam
  • Primordial
  • Carcass
  • Children of Bodom
  • Lacuna Coil
  • Crowbar
  • Decapitated
  • Evil Scarecrow
  • Amon Amarth
  • Saxon
  • Obituary

B-O-A runs from August 7th to 10th.

Finally, Sonisphere have announced that – after a year off – they’ll be back with a UK date (and more across Europe) from July 4th to 6th. Acts will apparently tie in with a 40 year celebration of music at Knebworth, but no official announcement will be made until Monday 2nd December.

Of course, the internet is rife with rumour but some sensible suggestions are doing the rounds. Maiden and Metallica are both touring around that time and not playing anywhere else in the UK, Sabbath are old enough to fit and AC/DC are themselves celebrating 40 years as a band.

I guess we’ll find out on Monday!
