Lorna Shore have today released their first new album in three years, I Feel the Everblack Festering Within Me, via Century Media Records. Alongside it comes the cinematic new video for “Glenwood”, directed by Dylan Hryciuk, which captures vocalist/lyricist Will Ramos’ deeply personal journey to reconnect with his estranged father.
“This song has been a very long-time coming for me,” says Ramos. “In my teens, my father and I never had a great relationship. We had countless fallouts and went many years without speaking. I wrote songs about him out of frustration, but nothing filled the hole I felt inside. Despite my anger, all I ever really wanted was to go back to the home I grew up in. That’s why I decided to knock on his door and try one more time to get in touch.”
He continues: “‘Glenwood Ave’ was the street I grew up on. My father always told me, ‘I’m the tree, you’re the branch.’ The day I saw him again, I realised he wasn’t the same person I remembered. He’d aged, changed, and the tree I grew up next to was gone. The house was the same but older, dustier, strange. I never stopped to think about how much time had passed, or that he was aging alongside me. I had countless chances to fix things, but I wasn’t brave enough. Now I’ll never get that time back. I wanted to capture that feeling in this song. My hope is that when people hear ‘Glenwood’, they reflect on their own lives and the people they’ve pushed away and ask themselves: ‘Is it really worth holding on to this anger?’”
“Glenwood” follows the singles “Oblivion”, “Unbreakable” and “Prison of Flesh”. As Lorna Shore’s fifth album, and their first since 2022’s Pain Remains, I Feel the Everblack Festering Within Me reinforces their reputation as one of the most powerful extreme metal acts of recent years.
