Another one gone far too early, aged only 56, Steve Harwell performed one of “those” songs that everyone knows. Smash Mouth’s “All Star” featured in Shrek (and Inspector Gadget and Mystery Men and… more) which made it explode. It’s a wonderful bouncy silly song and I love it.
The cause of death is reported as being liver failure, and the one comfort is that apparently his passing was (unlike his musical career and general personality) peaceful.
As always, our thoughts go out to his family, friends and colleagues. Scroll down, hit “play” and bounce around to one of the catchiest songs ever to feature in an animated film about an ogre. If you’re going to go, go while leaving behind something stupidly memorable.
