Start wrapping all your favourite rock icons in cotton wool, as it seems 2023 is out to get them. News has just come out that David Crosby, who definitely fits into the category “legend”, has passed away at the age of 81. Most famous for stints with The Byrds and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, his career has spanned a staggering length of time and produced some of the best known songs in rock history.
His wife released the following statement this evening:
It is with great sadness after a long illness, that our beloved David (Croz) Crosby has passed away. He was lovingly surrounded by his wife and soulmate Jan and son Django. Although he is no longer here with us, his humanity and kind soul will continue to guide and inspire us. His legacy will continue to live on through his legendary music. Peace, love, and harmony to all who knew David and those he touched. We will miss him dearly. At this time, we respectfully and kindly ask for privacy as we grieve and try to deal with our profound loss. Thank you for the love and prayers.
As always, our thoughts are with his family, friends and colleagues (he was still releasing new material up until last month with tours planned), and we celebrate his life with one of his best known songs.
