RIP Eddie Van Halen (1955 – 2020)

Van Halen are a band I never got to tick off my bucket list and with the news just being announced, it seems I never well. Especially not with any kind of “classic” line-up. It’s with a heavy heart that we have to report the passing of utter legend Eddie Van Halen, at the age of 65.

Eddie had been suffering from throat cancer for some time, something which was public knowledge, and it has finally beaten him. The news was released by his son, Wolf, who stated:

I can’t believe I’m having to write this, but my father, Edward Lodewijk Van Halen, has lost his long and arduous battle with cancer this morning.

He was the best father I could ever ask for. Every moment I’ve shared with him on and off stage was a gift.

My heart is broken and I don’t think I’ll ever fully recover from this loss.

I love you so much, Pop.

As always, our thoughts go out to Eddie’s family, friends and colleagues. And as always we choose to keep his memory alive with a sample of his work. But… where do you begin with someone so damned influential? So let’s simply go to album number one, track number one. Good night, Eddie Van Halen – and thank you for everything.
