Edinburgh heavy-rockers A Ritual Spirit have been playing on the UK live circuit since 2011 including slots at Bloodstock Open Air Festival, Wildfire Festival and Out of the Ashes Festival, plus numerous tours of the country’s small and medium sized venues, playing alongside such bands as Warrior Soul, Dead Label, Falling Red and The Rocket Dolls to name a few.
A Ritual Spirit currently have one full length release – 2013’s Carnival Carnivorous (available in all the usual places), The Antidote EP (2019, reviewed here) plus a sprinkling of other recordings via their own label Disposable Noise.
“Broken/Disappear” is the second single from The Antidote EP and will be accompanied by a self-made ‘lockdown’ lyric video featuring live footage, behind the scenes footage from previous video “Sacrifice”, and tour footage from A Ritual Spirit’s time on the road over the past 18 months. Oli tells us:
Lockdown has been tough for a lot of people but it’s a double-edged sword, Ok so we can’t hit the road and play shows right now but it’s given us plenty of free time to be creative, and opportunities to promote ourselves in different ways. There’s been some great online shows put together, live Q&A’s, take-overs and the like. I imagine some incredible music is being written too, here’s to 2021 being alive with the sound of lockdown music!
Putting together a video for “Broken/Disappear” was a logical use of our extra free time and the masses of live and behind the scenes footage we have. It’s been fun reliving previous tours, finding odd clips from life on the road that we’d pretty much forgotten about and deciding what to keep and what to cut. The video documents the past year and a half of this band and I hope our passion for what we do shines through!
“Broken/Disappear” will be released on 26th June 2020. The track, taken from The Antidote EP was produced, engineered, mixed & mastered by Bryan Ramage (Ramage Inc.).
