Album News: Skillet / Mayhem / Bloodred Hourglass / Plague Vendor

Some album news for you on this week’s hump day!

Every victory merits a theme song, and victory is exactly what multi-platinum, two-time Grammy nominee rockers Skillet hail as they partner with Billboard to announce the soundtrack to triumph on their tenth full-length album, Victorious due August 2nd (Atlantic). The follow-up to the RIAA Gold-certified Unleashed (their fourth consecutive album to receive either a gold, platinum, or double-platinum certification), the new project continues to propel the band’s position as one of the best-selling rock bands of the 21st century, racking up over 1 billion streams in 2018 alone. Victorious is available for pre-order now with special merchandise packages.

Affirms lead singer Jon Cooper:

“Victorious perfectly describes how the record makes me feel. You wake up, face your own demons every day, and never give in. There’s an introspective side to it. We might’ve commented on the world explicitly on previous albums. This one is about looking inward. Perhaps, it’s because I’ve gotten a little older, and I’ve accepted struggle as part of the journey. When I listen to these songs, I want to fight for my life, I want to fight for who I am, and I want to fight for what I believe in.”

The lyric video for the first single, “Legendary” can be seen below.

Century Media Records are proud to announce the worldwide signing of notorious Norwegian black metal forefathers Mayhem. Founded in 1984 Mayhem have released five studio albums as well as a number of demos, EPs and live albums since. Their debut full length De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas is considered by many to be the most influential black metal album of all time. Having left behind the controversy surrounding their early years, Mayhem continued to push boundaries and can nowadays be considered one of the most innovative forces of extreme metal and sinister art, which applies to both their live shows and their recent studio recordings. Comments the band:

“Once again Mayhem is writing a new chapter in its 35 year history. We are excited to now have joined forces with Century Media and are eager to see what this partnership can do for us both in the future.”

The as yet untitled album is scheduled for release on October 25th 2019.

Bloodred Hourglass

Bloodred Hourglass are thrilled to announce the global release of their 4th studio album Godsend on June 28th 2019, via Out On Line Music. Godsend is a ten-tracks relentless melodic death metal record, in perfect Finnish tradition: fast and hard-hitting, whilst creating an almost epic soundscape. Currently putting finishing touches to the record, the band promises to raise the bar even higher this year, delivering high quality metal to all their fans. The band comments:

”Godsend is so far the best version of Bloodred Hourglass. This album will modernise our sound and the output on the record will be somewhat fresh and varied compared to previous releases. Expect an album with full of harsh attacking melodic metal!“

The band are scheduled to play a range of dates in support of the album including an appearance on the Sophie Lancaster stage at this years Bloodstock Festival.

Plague Vendor

Plague Vendor have revealed their new single “Let Me Get High\Low,” the latest from their upcoming album By Night. The official video for the track can be seen below. The psychelia-tinged track is an infinity mirror of echo, effects, illusion and delusion and follows the release of “All of the Above,” a brooding track that sees an internal monologue disintegrating over a sci-fi punk drumbeat, and raw, vital lead single “New Comedown.” By Night is set for release on June 7 via Epitaph Records and sees Plague Vendor stretch and warp their songs, discovering a merciless sense of tension and apprehension that set every moment on edge. A fearless our-way-is-the-hard-way work ethic and famously physical live shows won the Southern California-based band a ferocious fan base and place of pride on the Epitaph Records roster.
