Album News: Beheaded / Fallen Tyrant / Arch + Matheos / allusinlove

More upcoming and recently released albums for you to think about spending your hard-earned on…

Beheaded

Malta’s death metal outfit and biggest metal export, Beheaded, reveal cover artwork, tracklisting and pre-orders for their sixth studio album titled Only Death Can Save You. The album is set to be released on June 14th worldwide via Agonia Records.

Forged from the darkest depths, Only Death Can Save You breathes violence and marches fearlessly down its death metal path. Summoning the visceral classic and the caustic edge of later death metal, the new punishing album spreads its aural horror with razor sharp precision.

To explain the title and concept of the new album, the band commented:

With Only Death Can Save You our intent was to artistically delve into the deepest, darkest corners of the human psyche and follow a creative path into the obscure frame of mind a person has when facing death, which, is the ultimate most terrifying experience and yet the only ‘salvation’ from life. This is a concept reflected in the lyrics and also captured in the album’s artwork.

Only Death Can Save You was recorded and mixed at Mk2 Recording Studio, run by the band’s drummer, Davide Billa. The album was mastered at Hertz Studio in Poland. Cover artwork was painted by Daniel Corcuero (Nekronikon).

Arch / Matheos

In progressive metal circles, the names of guitarist Jim Matheos and vocalist John Arch are spoken with due reverence. With the former having been a driving force in Fates Warning for thirty-five years, and the latter the original front-man of that band, they also have a single seminal work under the Arch / Matheos banner, 2011’s Sympathetic Resonance.

In 2019, they have reunited to follow that record up with Winter Ethereal, a more stylistically varied and perhaps deeper collection that explores a lot of sonic territory over the course of nine immersive tracks. “This stems from both of us trying to step out of our comfort zones a bit, sometimes voluntarily, sometimes being pushed,” states Matheos. “Having worked together so many times, it would be easy to fall into the same way of doing things, and I think we were both interested in exploring some new areas.”

Arch concurs and adds: “Each song is notably different from the next, and nothing sounds repetitive. It is not a concept album, but somehow after a full listen from start to finish, there does seem to be continuity between the songs that I can’t describe. At over an hour long, I think the fans will agree that it is a full listening experience.”

Winter Ethereal will be released May 10th on Metal Blade Records

Fallen Tyrant

German black metal band Fallen Tyrant have released their new album Children of a Nuclear Dawn. The album was recorded and mixed by Rene Hofmann at Wasted Life Studio and mastered by Markus Stock at Studio E. The album was released by Bleeding Heart Nihilist Productions.

Fallen Tyrant was formed in 2008 by Mithras Sol Invictus as a solo project, but soon turned into a full lineup band. The band released their debut album No World to Win, a Life to Lose in 2013.

allusinlove

Ahead of their first London live date and yet another UK tour, cult Leeds band allusinlove today announce their explosive debut studio album, It’s OK To Talk, out June 7th via Good Soldier Songs. The announcement follows the release of new single “All My Love”, a roaring classic rock anthem and a firm live favourite from the band’s riotous live shows.

Having played together as a band for almost 6 years, allusinlove returned last year following a self-imposed hiatus with their irresistible call to (each other’s) arms “All Good People”, the allusinlove EP and a free 4-date hometown residency at legendary Leeds venue Brudenell Social Club. As a long established, infamous and prolific live act, allusinlove felt compelled to capture the raw energy of those Brudenell shows as live album Live At Leeds (released last week) before embarking on their ambitious, expansive debut studio album It’s OK To Talk, produced by Catherine Marks (2018’s UK Producer Of The Year; St Vincent, Wolf Alice, PJ Harvey)

We’re incredibly proud to present our first long playing record. This album is a musical expression of all our love, positivity and unity – an insight into our perspective of the world around us and what it offers or demands from us. In a society that is so divided we want to offer some release, understanding and unity in the form of just fucking great music. It really is okay to be upset, anxious, hopeless, excited, happy and it’s even more okay to talk about it.
