O2 ABC Glasgow extensively damaged in School of Art fire

Awful news overnight as the Glasgow School of Art once again burst into flames, as restoration work was still underway from 2014’s blaze. This time the fire spread to nearby buildings, including the Campus nightclub and popular gig venue the O2 ABC.

The roof of the ABC collapsed as fire crews sprayed water on its roof from an overhead platform. The extent of the damage is otherwise unknown at present, but is likely to be severe.

News of what will happen with upcoming gigs scheduled for the venue will come in time (all listed on facebook have been cancelled), but for the moment we can at least breathe a sigh of relief that it at least seems that there are no reports of injuries or casualties despite the severity of the fire. A huge amount of appreciation must go to the fire services who attended and dealt with everything so professionally.
