Ufomammut vocalist reveals new solo project The Mon

Urlo, vocalist, bassist and synth player of doom outfit Ufomammut has unveiled The Mon as a new solo project. Two tracks “Relics” and “Souloop” have appeared on their bandcamp page, showing off the dark, brooding atmospheres we can expect from their debut – set to arrive sometime this year.

While The Mon still carry the same bass heavy, ominous crawl about them that Ufomammut crafted their career around, we’re told that by contrast, The Mon is more introspective and intimate.

Urlo reveals the end goal of The Mon is:

To reach the boundaries of a spiritual soundscape in which the music becomes purification and atonement, a way to bring out to the world inside my soul. The Mon for me is a journey through the mind, and one of personal discovery of the relation between evil and good – that starts from the name The Mon, like “Demon” but also like “the Monk” – to reach landscapes of sound that enable me, and potentially others to enter into the level of consciousness in a cathartic way.

Details about the album’s release along with audio and visual insights into the record will come steadily over the next few weeks and months we’re told. So if some doom-y, glacial, atmospheric music from the gene pool of Ufomammut sounds like your thing, keep up to date with the band via the links below and check out the tracks they’ve already released.
