News has just surfaced regarding the death, aged only 50, of Martin Eric Ain. Ain was the bassist for Celtic Frost, undoubtedly one of the most influential bands in the extreme metal genre.
Ain was born Martin Stricker in the USA, on July 18th 1967. He was a founder member of Celtic Frost, formed in 1984, alongside Isaac Darso and Thomas Fischer. Ain and Fischer were to remain core members of the band, including through a decade-long hiatus, up until the band formally folded in 2008.
Outside of Celtic Frost, Ain also ran a DVD store, a bar and a venue supporting up and coming acts.
He died on October 21st 2017 of a heart attack. Our thoughts to go out to his friends and family.
