Five years after their debut album Litanie au mal, out on Mortis Humanae Productions, French power-duo Sombre Croisade are ready to unleash the follow-up, a second full-length material. Balancier des Âmes is set to be released on Pest Records this September, a new album to take the French traditional black metal banner one step further, a personal and emotional yet uncompromising and abrasive album to impress through its honest approach. The track “Midiane” taken from Balancier des Âmes, is now streaming on YouTube.
Portuguese thrashers Terror Empire have just unveiled a new song off the new album Obscurity Rising. The song is called “You’ll Never See Us Coming” and it’s the album opener, right after the intro. It’s the third song to be released, after “Burn the Flags” and “Times of War”. The lyricist for the song, Rui Alexandre, tells us:
The lyrics are about a massive rebellion, a full-on take over of something by total surprise. You see, when things become stagnant, people in control tend to think it will remain like that forever. But if you keep pushing the wrong buttons with those you try to control, you’ve got another thing coming. This song’s about that. Picture a village burning, a permanent state of unrest, full-blown-chaos.
You can have a listen to the track over on YouTube.

The band recently unveiled the album’s sleeve artwork, an obscure drawing from 1898 by perhaps the greatest Norwegian artist of all time, Edvard Munch.

- Midnight Serpent
- Blood cracks open the ground
- To your brethren in the dark
- Deep calleth upon Deep

The band have a large European tour coming up with one UK date – 29th September at Heaven in London.
Rounding off with a little video clip from a small band who could really do with the publicity… Slipknot‘s Clown-directed docu-concert Day of the Gusano hits cinemas for a “one day only” release on September 6th (tickets available here). The band have just released a 37-second sample from “The Devil In I” which you can check out below.
Directed by Slipknot’s own M.Shawn Crahan, aka ‘Clown’, Day of The Gusano documents the Iowa band’s first ever visit to Mexico City in December 2015 and features exclusive interviews and behind the scenes footage of Slipknot’s members talking about the band’s long awaited first ever show there and the importance of their fanbase, fondly known as ‘maggots’ (‘gusano’ is the Spanish translation).
