Ginger Wildheart – update and gig postponements

We’ve been following recent news relating to Ginger via social media (his and others’) recently, but held back from posting anything until there was an official announcement.

For those who were unaware, Ginger was involved in an altercation with a member of the audience at his Ballymena show, resulting (we gather) in an injury to the concert-goer. Ginger was arrested and spent a night in the cells. Shortly after, he announced via Twitter that he had been sectioned once again and – most worryingly and sadly – had attempted to take his own life shortly afterwards.

The official statement follows, but personally we have to say that we love the man and his music… even if it seems that the music is the only way for him to keep the evil demons of depression from overwhelming him completely. Please check out the second half of an interview we did with him and Danny about a year ago where they discuss what it’s like living with mental illness… and remember that if you feel you’re suffering from something similar yourself, the first thing to do is to talk about it.

Samaritans can be contacted in a variety of ways. Details are on their home page. Don’t let things get too bad before you reach out.

It is with regret that due to serious ongoing issues with Ginger Wildheart’s mental health, we will be unable to fulfil any scheduled live appearances in the very near future.

Ginger is currently hospitalised and receiving around the clock care and is in the safest possible place.

We ask that you please respect the privacy of Ginger, and his family and friends at this difficult time.

Thank you for your continued love and support, it is very much appreciated.’ – Ginger Wildheart Team

The postponed shows are:

  • Friday 18th August – Manchester Dancehouse (warm-up show)
  • Saturday 19th August – London Union Chapel

The shows will be rescheduled but ticket refunds are available from point of purchase.

Find Ginger on Twitter, FB etc and send him out your love.
Life would be that little more darker without him around.
