I’ve covered these guys a couple of times before – as a New Band of the Day and when their first video was released. Well, they’re gaining pace as their album, Black Letters, was released two days ago… and they have a second video in the works due out in March.
From the press release:
Los Angeles, CA: alt-rockers Living Deäd Lights excitingly released their debut full album, “a collision of arena rock riffs and snarling punk angst, which is infectious” (Rock Sound), Black Letters (GB Sound) on January 27, 2014. After the successful releases of the first album cut and its accompanying video, “This Is Our Evolution”, the band is also now getting ready to a release second single, “Johnny”, in March, with an accompanying video directed by P.R. Brown (Mötley Crüe, Prince, Smashing Pumpkins, My Chemical Romance and much more).
“This is Our Evolution” debuted simultaneously with Rolling Stone, Revolver and Front Magazine two days before its wide release and had garnered nearly 120,000 YouTube hits…that is, until it was inexplicably taken off line…twice.
According to lead guitarist Alan Damiën, “We have a message entangled inside a nastiness of sound, and inside a destructive energy there’s a current of hope that exists. It’s honestly something that we feel is missing in music and art today.”
Black Letters, which was described as “a debut to remember” by Kerrang! Magazine (4/5), was recorded at The Hobby Shop Recording Studios in L.A. It’s a collaborative effort by Fred Archambault (Avenged Sevenfold, Deftones), David Spreng (Bob Dylan, Alice Cooper) and Tom Baker (NIN, Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie).
And here’s that first video again for you to enjoy…
