38 Unreleased Jimi Hendrix Tracks Coming in New Box Set This Year

Hailed in his day for his creativity and ability to captivate massive live audiences, Jimi Hendrix’s legacy has only grown since his death in 1970. Quite rightly, his place in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame notes him as “arguably the greatest instrumentalist” in rock history. Helping to power this posthumous prominence has been the steady stream of new releases and re-releases of his works.

On the horizon is yet another set of Hendrix tracks but with a significant hook. Of the 39 to feature on the upcoming box set, 38 are as-yet-unreleased tracks. All of them were recorded mere months before the star’s untimely death. Alongside this release, there’ll also be another Hendrix-centred venture that’s also bound to do incredibly well with rock fans.

New Hendrix Tunes on the way

Put out by Legacy Recordings, the new collection of Jimi Hendrix tracks will come out on 13 September 2024. As guitarworld reports, the Electric Lady Studios: A Jimi Hendrix Vision features 38 unreleased tracks with none of them getting the additional percussive layers and drum beats that had been added by Mitch Mitchell in many other posthumous releases. Above, you’ll find the first new song of the set, Angel [Take 7].

The upcoming Electric Lady Studios is loaded with what’s being hailed as an “unblemished insight” into Hendrix and his band’s works. Included on the discs are tracks that were completed before he went to the Isle of Wight in August 1970, along with a hefty 26-minute jam that the band just sprung into during a recording session. Key to the box set and its release, however, is the ties between Hendrix and the studio.

Of course, Warner Bros. Records have released an extensive collection of Hendrix albums over the last five decades. Those with ‘Hendrix’ on the cover, per rollingstone, are among the best-selling, with more than three million albums sold around the world. What makes this one special is that it’ll be released alongside a new documentary of the same name, recounting how Hendrix helped remaster an abandoned nightclub into a now-legendary studio.

More Ways to Get the Hendrix Experience

Jimi Hendrix has been a music legend for decades and is one of those names who’s just instantly recognisable even without his tracks being in the charts. He remains iconic, which is why there’s such a draw for just about anything with his name on it, including as a particularly prominent game at one of the highest-rated sites, per casinoalpha.

At the platform boasting an 8.1 recommendation, the Hendrix slot features his tracks and a distinctly Jimi pastel colour aesthetic, naturally being very appealing to rock fans. There’s also a movie out in the world. It does come with a little caveat, though, as the moviemakers couldn’t get the rights to Hendrix’s music for the Jimi: All is by my Side flick, which stars André 3000 and Hayley Atwell.

It’s a stacked, but not cheap, box set that Jimi Hendrix and classic rock fans are bound to swarm to when it releases later this year. In the meantime, there are plenty of albums still available as well as other entertainment options to sink into the experience.
