How To Furnish Your Bedroom

Wondering how to furnish your bedroom? Here are some great tips and some great advice to do so.

  1. Update The Color

Repainting the bedroom walls in fresh new colors, especially your favorite color can boost its outlook significantly.   If the walls were initially in dark hues, consider going for lighter or pale colors, to give it a spacious and airy look.  You can never go wrong with light blue for any bedroom.   You could also go with bolder colors, such as royal blue, red, or even shades of orange.  These colors are however only recommended for larger bedrooms and with tons of natural light. Painting bold colors in an otherwise smaller bedroom with limited natural light can however make it seem dull. Blues and whites are the safest colors you can play around with in the bedroom. They are also more flexible and can blend in with most themes.

  1. Take Advantage Of Natural And Artificial Light

Proper lighting is crucial in every bedroom setup. It is thus advisable to place your bed adjacent to or directly opposite the windows to allow natural light to get in.  Never place your bed in front of the window (blocking it) unless it is unavoidable. You also want to ensure the room is well-illuminated at night, preferably with a centrally placed ceiling light. Table lamps on both sides of the bed would be a welcome idea too.  Additionally, you want to invest in blackout curtains or drapes to help block unwanted light from the room.

  1. Pick The Right Bed

The bed is the centerpiece of every bedroom. While important, experts recommend choosing your bed after having settled on the ideal lighting solution and wall color. This way, you can choose a bed that fits the bedroom perfectly and blends in with the décor around it. Some of the key factors to consider when shopping for the ideal bed include:

– Mattress:   The ideal mattress needs to feel comfortable under your weight and with enough back and spine support.

–  Box spring:  The box spring needs to be sturdy enough to hold the mattress in place, and enable you to climb on and out of the bed with little to no effort.

– Bed: This is what holds the box spring and mattress in place.

– Bed frame:  While optional, a bed frame completes your bed.

– Beddings: These include a duvet, comforter, sheets, and pillowcases at the very minimum.

– Pillows: Pillows are a must-have for optimal head support.

A bed is one of the few things you should take your time before settling for one. It is an investment that will likely last several decades, a reason you want to research, test, and trial several before settling for the one. We spend 1/3 of our lives asleep, don’t gamble with a good night’s sleep.

  1. Storage

You need enough space to keep your clothes, shoes, phones, and other valuables organized.  The best way to do this would be to invest in a nightstand, a dresser, and a small side table at the very least. These provide enough storage to hold your items instead of tossing them everywhere. Check out the stylish range at Home Detail UK https://homedetail.co.uk/collections/drawers. You could also invest in a larger wardrobe unit if space and budget allow. There are also plenty of other bedroom storage options and ideas you can take advantage of. You only need to get creative.

  1. Décor

With everything ready, organizing and decorating the bedroom should be relatively easy. This, of course, depends on your individual taste and style. For starters, you could choose to group like colors together or go with a different theme altogether. Here are a few ideas on how to decorate your bedroom:

– Throw in a rug: This adds a sense of comfort and is a good sound insulator too.

– A wall art: You can hang your favorite piece of art just above the headboard.

– Mirror:  Invest in a large enough mirror; install it on your dresser

– Books: This is especially crucial for anyone that loves to read

– Candles: Candles help create a relaxing atmosphere.

  1. Seating

The bedroom should be your safe ‘haven’ where you can relax and unwind. Aside from the bed, you’ll need somewhere comfortable to relax when reading a book, folding your clothes, or having a chat with your partner. That said, consider including at least one chair in one corner of the room. You’ll also find the seat useful especially while dressing or putting on/off your shoes.
