Some of the most popular music albums that they have ever released are the Aftermath (1966), Let it Bleed (1969). Beggars Banquet (1968), Exile on Main Street (1972), and Sticky Fingers (1971). The album sticky fingers are part of the Grammy Hall of Fame and are included in the Rolling Stone Magazine’s list of 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

Lynyrd Skynyrd

This American rock band was formed in 1964 which was also during a time when pop rock was on the rise. Musicians Gary Rossington, Rickey Medlocke, Johnny Van Zant, Michael Cartellone, Mark Matejka, Peter Keys, and Keith Christopher complete Lynyrd Skynyrd’s lineup. The band was formed in Jacksonville Florida and was originally called My Backyard.

Some of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s most popular albums are Nuthin Fancy (1975), Second Helping (1974), and Street Survivors (1977). Street Survivors’s peaked at number 5 at the Billboards when it was released and it is a 2x Platinum album.

The Beatles

Who hasn’t listened to The Beatles? The Beatles is also another rock band that was formed in the 1960s. It is comprised of English men in the names of Ringo Star, George Harrison, Paul McCartney, and John Lennon who came together and formed the band in Liverpool.

Some of the albums that were big hits from the Beatles are their self-titled album The Beatles (1968), Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (1967), Yellow Submarine (1969), Abbey Road (1969), and Let it Be (1970). The Beatles have gotten plenty of awards during their active and non-active times. In fact, in 1965, they were appointed by Queen Elizabeth and received their Member of the Most Excellent Order at Buckingham Palace.

Guns N’ Roses

American rock band Guns N’ Roses of GNR was formed in Los Angeles, California in the year 1985 and was composed of Axl Rose, Slash, Izzy Stradlin, Duff McKagan, and Steven Adler as the first lineup. However, the current lineup now consists of Rose, Slash, Mckagan, Richard Fortus, Dizzy Reed, Melissa Reese, and Frank Ferrer.

The studio albums released by the band are the Appetite for Destruction (1987), G N’ R Lies (1988), Use Your Illusion I (1991), Use Your Illusion II (1993), The Spaghetti Incident (1993), and the Chinese Democracy (2008). The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012.


Nirvana is an American rock band that was formed in 1987 by its lead singer, guitarist, and songwriter Kurt Cobain. Other members of the band are Krist Novoselic and Dave Grohl. The band was formed in Aberdeen, Washington and they became extremely popular in the late 1980s to the early 90s.

The albums that you should listen to from Nirvana are Bleach (1989), Nevermind (1991), and In Utero (1993). We can say that the popularity of this band was a bit short-lived as in 1994, vocalist Kurt Cobain passed away. However, the band continued to get awards after the incident. They were even selected to be a part of the Mojo Hall of Fame 100 in 2003.


When it comes to modern rock, you may want to check Paramore which was formed in 2004 by Hayley Williams, Taylor York, and Zac Farro. The band was formed in Franklin Tennessee and they debuted in 2005 under Warner Music Group’s Fueled by Ramen.

The debut album of Paramore is “All We Know is Falling” and this was followed by “Riot” that was released in 2007. This album made Paramore enter the mainstream. Other albums they released are Brand New Eyes (2009), Paramore (2013), and After Laughter (2017).


Coldplay is a British rock band that was formed in 1996 by Chris Martin, Jonny Buckland, Guy Berryman, and Will Champion. These men all met at the University of London where they began to play music together. Initially, there were called Pectoralz. This turned to Starfish but later on settled to Coldplay.

Coldplay’s most popular albums are Parachutes (2000), Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends (2008), Ghost Stories (2014), and A Head Full of Dreams (2015). This band has won numerous awards since they started including an American Music Award and Brit Awards.
