Simple things first – where are you guys from?
We are based in Bristol in the south of England.
How long have you been playing together as a band?
The band has existed since 2018 and our current line-up has been going since last
year.
Where does the name of the band come from?
A Moon Reaper is essentially synonym for a black hole, the heaviest known thing in the universe. The band’s lyrics have always focused on deep space entities and the horrors found in the endless expanse, so it was a fitting title.
Describe your music. What makes you unique?
We are the only band to combine the ferocious beatdowns of Malevolence with the ice-cold atmospherics of Conjurer. To give you a genre, we’re often described as blackened doom metal with breakdowns.
What’s your live show like? Why are people going to watch you instead of another band?
In the words of Bloodstock’s own Simon Hall, “ABSOLUTE CRUSH!” Our scathing dual vocal approach combined with our songs that span the entire extreme metal spectrum make our live show something truly unmissable.

Have you played Bloodstock before? If so, when?
We played the New Blood stage last year after winning the Bristol Metal 2 the Masses final. Truly the experience of a lifetime! We loved every second of it and cannot wait to be back this year!
How/when did you find out that you’d be playing the SOPHIE stage?
Only in June! We got a phone call offering us the spot after another act dropped out, so we’ve been preparing at breakneck speed to put together our best ever show.
What sort of setlist can we expect?
We’ll be playing everything off Black Sun Sorcery, along with a choice cut or two from the debut EP. Perhaps even something brand new – you’ll have to come along and see!
Stage times haven’t been announced yet, so which other band do you most hope you’re not
clashing with so you can see them play?
Our personal tastes vary wildly among the band but we all hope to see some of our friends on the New Blood Stage, like Atom Smasher and Froglord.
What are you working on at the moment?
During Bloodstock last year we promised that playing the New Blood stage would not be our career highlight. We have spent the last 12 months ensuring exactly that! We already have several songs ready to take into the studio, along with live appearances planned into 2025.
What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?
We always want to start some chaos at a live show but the moment that stands out to us was seeing James, our drummer, jump up from behind the kit to personally split the crowd for a wall of death! We’re lucky he got back in time to play his part!
What drink do you throw back to get yourself fired up before going on stage?
Our vocalists swear by Lucozade Sport to prepare their voices but the rest of us will settle for a cold beer.
