The release of their sophomore album The Unforgiving Reality in Nothing [review here – Mosh] has marked the start of a new era for UK blackened deathcore stalwarts Turin. Turin has been making waves in the British underground, having played major stages such as Bloodstock and Tech Fest. Now, hardened by the pandemic, a new “version” of Turin is upon us, so to speak, as their new album presents not only a new sound, but also a more personal approach to the song writing, resulting in soul crushingly beautiful compositions that prove that although the earth’s situation may be quite bleak right now, humanity’s descent into nothingness can be quite stunning.
About a week removed from the new LP’s release, I managed to sit down with Ben Adcroft, the force behind the band’s blistering drum parts and one of the pillars of their compositions. The topics discussed in the 15 or so minutes we had range from what has changed since the last time we’ve caught up with them (2019 and 2016) to the reason for their name change, to the collaborations they’ve had for tracks such as “Loss”.
