Our regular run-down of as many of the upcoming Bloodstock bands as we can get to talk to us! Sanguinem play the New Blood stage on the Sunday…
Simple things first – where are you guys from?
We are from over the place – Marcus (Germany/Cyprus) but born here, Juan Pablo aka JP (Argentina), George (Greece), Jerry our original drummer on the album (Poland) we have James (England) filling in for him at the moment as Jerry is taking some time off from the band due to other commitments, Geos (Peru/Argentina with Italian/Incas roots born in Machu Picchu).
How long have you been playing together as a band?
We’ve been playing together since after the lockdown.
Where does the name of the band come from?
Sanguinem means blood in Latin, myself (Geos) and JP have Latin blood so it represent us all as in our blood we carry our passion for music.
Describe your music. What makes you unique?
Heavy, melodic and groovy, riffs that will make you head bang and bounce, epic melodies that you will remember, and raw power. What makes us different is the cross over of genres and influences.
What’s your live show like? Why are people going to watch you instead of another band?
Raw power, and lots of head banging. We want to transmit our energy to our audience to feel what we feel. I wouldn’t say they come to see us instead of other bands, I would say they come to see us as well as, but definitely they come to see us because we are different and they want to hear what we have to give. I don’t wanna compare our band to anyone else’s because everyone does their own thing and everything they do is valuable and done with the best of themselves.

Have you been to Bloodstock before? What did you think?
(Geos) Personally is my first time and I literally can’t wait to smash it on stage, but I’ve been in other metal festival here in UK and Europe. George, James and Jerry played Bloodstock with other projects and definitely had a great time! For JP is his first time too and he definitely can’t wait either.
Which M2tM region did you win, or did you come through other channels?
We won the London round of M2TM.
Can you put into 10 words or fewer how it felt when you realised you were heading to Bloodstock?
We felt proud, accomplished, grateful and really happy indeed.
What sort of setlist can we expect?
Well you can expect the bangers of our first album Solitude. Lots of dynamics, but it just flows so naturally. Aggressive but captivating, melodic and melancholic, energetic, authentic with personality.
What are you working on at the moment?
At the moment we are working in a new EP, we have all the tracks demoed, we just need to start recording all the parts, we should have a single hopefully before November, and the EP by early next year.
What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?
One of the wildest and funniest things I saw was a festival toilet being passed around by the crowd like if it was crowd surfing until it got to the stage at Brutal Assault in Czech Republic.
What drink do you throw back to get yourself fired up before going on stage?
Personally I don’t need to get a drink to get fired up before going on stage – I get fired up naturally – but I might have beer as a refreshment though, hahaha.
