Our regular run-down of as many of the upcoming Bloodstock bands as we can get to talk to us! Black Coast play the Sophie Lancaster stage on the Friday…
Simple things first – where are you guys from?
We are from the sunshine monkey dust capital Stoke-on-Trent. God’s city!
How long have you been playing together as a band?
6 years but minus the first 4, ’cause we were finding our feet with our style and we had a pretty shit start! When (debut LP) Outworld came out in 2020 that was when we felt the band properly started.
Where does the name of the band come from?
It was actually gonna be a song name for a previous band, but we always say it’s ’cause it’s the colour of our van and we also have this thing where we always try to sleep on the coast when we tour. Our van is fully loaded for sleeping in 5 bunks and a heater!
Describe your music. What makes you unique?
I think we just have that more OG vibe to our sound. We love all the classic 90’s grunge/nu metal-vibe stuff. So we kinda made grunge mixed with nu metal and a taste of that Stoke Black Coast vibe. People say “imagine if Alice in Chains had a baby with Linkin Park – you get Black Coast. So I feel we ain’t reinventing the wheel, we just keeping it rolling.
What’s your live show like? Why are people going to watch you instead of another band?
‘Cause if ya don’t we will put dog poo in ya letterbox! Nah, we just want people to come and watch us and enjoy the show. We don’t have a set routine or owt, we just get up and roll with it. Loads of energy and just get the crowd involved. I feel we are a breath of fresh air on a very heavy fest.

Have you played Bloodstock before? If so, when?
Nah, first time. Can’t wait!!
How/when did you find out that you’d be playing the SOPHIE stage?
January. We were buzzing. It took a few messages ’til it sunk in. We were like “Us? Bloodstock? Sophie stage? Nah bruv!” But yeah, can’t wait!
What sort of setlist can we expect?
35 minutes of bouncing riffs and dive bombs!!
Which other band do you most hope you’re not clashing with so you can see them play?
Zetra – they are one of the best new UK bands right now!
What are you working on at the moment?
We are figuring out what we want to do next as a band music-wise. We want to try a different direction. We have all been listening to 90’s trance so would be cool try something with that.
What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?
I’ll let you know after Bloodstock!
What drink do you throw back to get yourself fired up before going on stage?
A Yorkshire tea. Nowt gets you ready to riff like a lovely brew!
