It’s that time of year where we set out to interview as many of the Sophie, New Blood, and Jager bands as we can in the lead-up to one of the most anticipated festivals of the year, Bloodstock. Answering our questions here are All Hail Dog who play the Jagermeister stage on the Friday.
Simple things first – where are you guys from?
We are all based in Brighton, UK but I (Armandine/singer) am originally from France.
How long have you been playing together as a band?
The band started a few years ago (going through many changes) but our line up as it stands has only been playing together for about a year.
Where does the name of the band come from?
It comes from our old guitarist, Andy, presenting his new dog, Zilla to us saying “All Hail Dog Zilla”. I said All Hail Dog could be a great band name and finally everyone agreed(after about 9 months of fighting over it J)
Describe your music. What makes you unique?
We actually can’t describe it, I guess this is what makes it unique. We are a patchwork of everything we love, from metal to prog, from French chanson to psychedelic, from Cabaret to alt rock.
What’s your live show like? Why are people going to watch you instead of another band?
The music is punchy and melodic and I fill in the boots of the theatrical queer singer who does clear and harsh vocals. Props include light up wings.
Have you been to Bloodstock before? What did you think?
Yes, some of us have. It’s a great festival. We’re so chuffed to play it. Last year I was one of the backing vocals for King Goat on the Sophie Lancaster stage and experiencing it as an artist is incredible.

When/how did you find out you’d been selected to play at Bloodstock?
At the Brighton M2TM(metal to the masses) final, end of June, we were told that even though we didn’t win, we were on the reserve list for a possible slot and we found out we got it on the 4th of July. It was the day after my birthday, best birthday present ever J
What sort of setlist can we expect?
You can’t expect anything as such, we don’t have our music online yet at the moment, so… surprise!
Which other band do you most hope you’re not clashing with so you can see them play?
We’re not “allowed” to say when we’re playing yet, so I won’t say who we might be clashing with. Ah!
What are you working on at the moment?
We’re working on our first EP (all songs are ready to go and be recorded) and we’ll follow very soon after with a single.
What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?
Not with this band but a fair few year ago, some idiots were really abusive to the bands and the audience so I jumped off the stage punching one of them in the swing of it.
What drink do you throw back to get yourself fired up before going on stage?
The guys have a beer, and I just stick with water and Vocalzone. I had serious vocal issues following Covid so I need to nurse my voice before a show to sound good. After the show, I always fully expect someone from the audience to get me a Jaegerbomb though (I deserve it). J
