It’s that time of year where we set out to interview as many of the Sophie, New Blood, and Jager bands as we can in the lead-up to one of the most anticipated festivals of the year, Bloodstock. Answering our questions here are Unburier who play the New Blood stage on the Sunday.
Simple things first – where are you guys from?
Yeovil, Somerset.
How long have you been playing together as a band?
3 years but we took about 1 year out between 2020-2021 and got a new line up together at the back end of 2021.
Where does the name of the band come from?
Nowhere in particular, we were just brainstorming ideas and that cropped up. We felt it matched the style of music we wanted to make.
Describe your music. What makes you unique?
We are a blend of death and thrash metal that utilise dynamic song structures whilst maintaining a heavy sound.

What’s your live show like? Why are people going to watch you instead of another band?
Our live show is very straight to the point, tight, high levels of musicianship with dynamic song writing. And if any of that is up your alley I’m sure you’ll be pleased walking away from our live show!
Have you been to Bloodstock before? What did you think?
Ben (Champion, vocals/guitars) has and he loved it but for everyone else, this will be their first time attending.
Which M2tM region did you win, or did you come through other channels?
Somerset.
Can you put into 10 words or fewer how it felt when you realised you were heading to Bloodstock?
Super excited.
What sort of setlist can we expect?
A few more thrashy based tracks and the new tracks that are much more in the vein of death metal.
Which other bands do you most hope you’re not squished up next to so you can see them play?
To name a few: Exodus, Sylosis, Lorna Shore, Heathen.
What are you working on at the moment?
We have just released a 2 track so post-BOA we will get to work on an EP, hopefuly for release at the back end of 2023.
What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?
Nothing too wild but have definitely seen some carnage in mosh pits.
What drink do you throw back to get yourself fired up before going on stage?
A refreshing glass of H2O.
