It has been a few years since Moshville Times reached out to Syrian blackened death metal band Maysaloon after they released their debut album The Forgotten Dawn in 2017. Since then, Maysaloon have survived living in a war torn country, guitarist/vocalist Jake Shakur played two songs at the Imperial War Museum in London in 2019 and they released their second album A Lip to Earth, A Lip to Heaven and a Tongue to the Stars.
If metal in the vein of Behemoth, Dissection and, especially when the orchestration, kicks in Septic Flesh appeals to you then I urge you to listen to this band and get to hear blackened death metal with middle eastern touches of the highest order.
I simply had to have a chat with the band to discuss everyday life, the recording process of the new album and what is next in store for Maysaloon. We at Moshville Times wish you all the best and hope that you can spread the word of Syrian death metal.
