It’s that time of year where we set out to interview as many of the Sophie, New Blood, and Jager bands as we can in the lead-up to one of the most anticipated festivals of the year, Bloodstock. Answering our questions here are Wired who play the New Blood Stage on Sunday.
Simple things first – where are you guys from?
We’re from the midlands area, around Coventry/Walsall/Wolverhampton areas
How long have you been playing together as a band?
We’ve been a band for just short of 3 years no, our first jam was November 2018, Jag and Bez had the first jam, then quickly started recruiting mates of ours to join, Marc was the third member to join, his first time doing vocals for a band, then next along came Pawl, who has been with bands with Bez in the past, then our second guitarist came along but left early 2021 due to other commitments, so early 2021, then we recruited pawls brother Sy to take over as lead guitarist, he jumped on the opportunity and we’ve not looked back since
Where does the name of the band come from?
We struggled a lot in the early days of Wired to come up with a band name, it took us months for us to figure it out, there were some absolute stinkers of ideas that were thrown into the mix (that’s a story for another day), we came up with Wired when Bez rocked up to practise late one day with the most savage hangover, he started drilling off cans of monster energy as if they were the last cans on early, after that, we couldn’t shut him up because he was that Wired off caffeine, so that’s where the name came from.
Describe your music. What makes you unique?
Our music is thrash/hardcore with a massive party element in there, so we’ll have the fast catchy tracks, but with lyrics about marcs stag do, our track ‘Shots Fired’ is about us on Marcs stag do getting wasted and playing on waterslides all day, then from that we do delve into the serious side of things. come check us out and you’ll see what we’re all about.
What’s your live show like? Why are people going to watch you instead of another band?
Our live show is fast paced and energetic, we like to get the crowd involved with lyrics where we can and often have members from other bands join us on stage to guest on vocals with us, Bez’s other half Roxxy fronts the awesome punk band Face Up is at most of our shows, so often comes on stage with us.

Have you been to Bloodstock before? What did you think?
We love Bloodstock, most of us have been before and two of the band have played before in the past, Marc has played the Sophie stage when he used to drum for Gehtika and Bez played it with his old band Devil’s Playground.
Which M2tM region did you win, or did you come through other channels?
We didn’t enter through M2tM, when we saw that we could apply to play, we had our application in straight away and eagerly awaited a reply, when we got one telling us we were playing, it was the best news for us.
Can you put into 10 words or fewer how it felt when you realised you were heading to Bloodstock?
Dream come true for us
What sort of setlist can we expect?
Fast paced thrash/hardcore, from the get go, it’ll be loud and in your face.
Which other bands do you most hope you’re not squished up next to so you can see them play?
Our brothers in Ashen Crown, Borstal, Video Nasties Conjurer, there’s quite a lot on the bill that we’re all individually excited to see
What are you working on at the moment?
At the moment, we’re writing new material, we were planning an EP for this year but have put that on hold now, as we have our new guitarist, we’re working on new material so that he can put his own flair on the tracks.

What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?
The wildest thing we’ve probably done is take part in the wave of death during Municipal Waste’s Bloodstock in 2017. What a rush and seeing so many people go over and be part of it was an amazing experience.
What drink do you throw back to get yourself fired up before going on stage?
Bez swears by Sneak energy, he’ll drink a ridiculous amount to get himself fired up. The rest of us will kick back and have a couple of beers to help us loosen up and get in the flow of things.
