#RoadToBOA2021 – Casket Feeder

It’s that time of year where we set out to interview as many of the Sophie, New Blood, and Jager bands as we can in the lead-up to one of the most anticipated festivals of the year, Bloodstock. Answering our questions here are Casket Feeder who play the New Blood Stage on Thursday.

Simple things first – where are you guys from?

We are from the land of roundabouts, Milton Keynes.

How long have you been playing together as a band?

Our first show was Halloween 2016 so we’re coming up to 5 years this year.

Where does the name of the band come from?

Our guitarist, Aaron, had a list of potential song titles and band names before the band started. When we were deciding on a name, we referred to the list. Casket Feeder stood out from the other potential names, and the rest is history.

Describe your music. What makes you unique?

Our sound blends the chainsaw fury of Swedish death metal with UK hardcore’s sledgehammer groove. As we’ve grown as a band, lots of different influences from individual members have made way into our sound, which will be more evident on our upcoming release.

What’s your live show like? Why are people going to watch you instead of another band?

We don’t use any click tracks, or have any gimmicks. Our live show is raw, loud and energetic. We don’t clash with any other bands too, so that’s a good enough reason to come watch us instead of another band haha.

Have you been to Bloodstock before? What did you think?

Two of us have been before, and absolutely loved it. Those of us who haven’t been are absolutely buzzing to get there. This year has an amazing line-up of UK talent, so fully expect this to be the best weekend of 2021 for many.

Which M2tM region did you win, or did you come through other channels?

We didn’t take part in M2TM. We just reached out to Bloodstock, and got lucky.

Can you put into 10 words or fewer how it felt when you realised you were heading to Bloodstock?

‘’Hope this isn’t our first gig back after the pandemic!’’ (This is actually our second gig back after the pandemic.)

What sort of setlist can we expect?

The majority of our set will be new material from our upcoming album Servants of Violence, and a selection of singles and other songs.

Which other bands do you most hope you’re not squished up next to so you can see them play?

As far as we are aware we are not clashing with any other band however, one band we were really hoping to watch was URNE. As soon as they finish on the Sophie stage, we start on the New Blood stage so unfortunately, we will miss them. This year’s line-up has an abundance of great underground bands so ideally, we don’t want to miss any of them.

What are you working on at the moment?

We have recorded our debut album Servants of Violence which is pretty much ready to go. We are confident for a 2021 release so are in the process of finalising all of the details for that.

What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?

We toured with a band from the Netherlands called Teethgrinder and whilst we were playing in Birmingham, we saw the guitarist, Mart, taking a shit at the side of the stage.

On two occasions, the PA has been pushed over because someone has spin kicked into the PA.

Our drummer accidentally turned off the power to our bassist’s amp during one of shows, thinking he was turning off a lamp. We started playing the next song, where the bassist started scratching his head trying to figure out why his amp had stopped working.

What drink do you throw back to get yourself fired up before going on stage?

Jäger bombs usually, however, on many occasions that has not always been the greatest idea. We don’t necessarily have any particular drinking ritual, but you can’t go wrong with the standard combination of riffs and beer.
