We had a breather last year, but again we’re aiming to bring you a little bit of info about as many bands as possible who will be featuring at this year’s Bloodstock Festival. Hitting the Jagermeister Stage on the Sunday are Spectral Darkwave…
Simple things first – where are you guys from?
Everywhere and nowhen upon this rare jewel in the endless ocean of death.
How long have you been playing together as a band?
Eight long Earth years, considered shorter by other bodies. It has been most rewarding.
Where does the name of the band come from?
It is the name of our vessel through which time, space and the multiverse are travelled. To her crew she is the Good Ship Darkwave.
Describe your music. What makes you unique?
The horror of death metal, the longing of classic doom, the orchestrations of other worlds. Other bands have mighty arrangements, we have… drama itself!
What’s your live show like? Why are people going to watch you instead of another band?
We offer… escape. For the full show we will offer a range of pulsing grooves, transport to stories of suffering, all within a church of black. Hail Cthulhu!

Have you been to Bloodstock before? What did you think?
We have long been fans of Bloodstock, it was always an aspiration to perform for the enlightened humans of the extreme metal creed. They know to watch the Black, for it stares back intently!!
When/how did you find out you’d been selected to play at Bloodstock?
Due to pandemic disruption, we received a kind message having been involved in the M2TM process for a number of years. It allowed us to hone our craft, forge new stories and convert the best of people to his will. Without M2TM and our supporters we would not have been thrust forth. )RAISES HANDS ALOFT( Lord keep them for… your… OWN!!
What sort of setlist can we expect?
Live human experimentation in the Pacific arena, the celebration of gas warfare in the Great War, the sacking of a city using elephants in Persia, followed by a Greek curse of eternal life. Fitting for the good people of Bloodstock we feel.
Which other band do you most hope you’re not clashing with so you can see them play?
We can see all of them. We simply reset your timeline. Devin Townsend twice. That we are playing on the Sunday only makes this easier to do. Like a hinge.

What are you working on at the moment?
We have a range of video assets that will go toward the release of our second full length album in Late September. We realise that if we are going draft new souls to the cause then we had better give the people what they want – adventure, metal and horror most foul.
What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?
A man exploded once at one of our shows. With devotion. For HIM. Some called that wild.
What drink do you throw back to get yourself fired up before going on stage?
The souls of innocents thrice distilled. Gin, Amaretto and good Cider.
