In the lead-up to 400 bands descending on Camden for a weekend in June, we thought we’d introduce you to some of the bands you can expect to see as they discuss the festival, their upcoming plans and where/when you can see them at Camden Rocks as well as why.
Have you played Camden Rocks before? If so, when was it?
No, we have never played before! It’s our first time and we can’t wait. We have played in The Black Heart in Camden before but not as part of this festival.
What are you most looking forward to at this year’s (other than playing)?
We have a lot to look forward to this year. We have a lot of great festivals lined up, and we are also releasing some new music which we are very excited to share with the world!
Other than yourselves, who would you recommend to see?
If we can we would love to catch Frank Turner, he is someone I have always wanted to see live but haven’t had the chance yet. I hear he is immense live. So hopefully we can catch his set.
You’re playing on the Saturday, where and when can we see you (if you’re allowed to tell us!)?
We sure can. We are playing The Dev Arms at 10pm on the Saturday. We would love to see everyone there, so please pop along.
Do you have a favourite venue in Camden?
We haven’t played The Dev Arms yet but we are hoping it will be one of our favourites. We love The Black Heart too, its a great atmosphere there.
How would you describe the band’s sound?
We like to think of ourselves as fat and heavy. Heavy grooves and music that makes you bang your head. We are evolving and we have so many possibilities now with the addition of Mick.
The band recently added a second guitarist. What was the reasoning behind that?
We were never stuck to the idea of being a three piece. It was more of the fact that we didn’t know someone else that would fit in and have the same level of commitment. We have toyed with the idea a few times but when we gave it real thought we always thought Mick would be a great fit because he likes the same type of music as us, plays the same style and basically it’s like he has always been in the band. He is a fantastic addition and we can’t wait to get to Europe to show people how heavy we sound as a four piece.
How has the dynamic in the band changed since the addition?
The dynamic is even better. We were a tight family as a three piece, but now as a four piece it’s even better. We can’t imagine the band without Mick now, it is like he has always been here. He was always meant to be in the band and now we are unstoppable.
What else does the band have planned for 2019?
Along with Camden Rocks, we are also playing Knockanstocan here in Ireland, MetalDays in Slovenia and Boomtown. We are also supporting Alien Weaponry here in Dublin, too. We have a lot of new music, some of which will be released soon and some which is coming on the next album.
