Prior to their performance at HRH Metal, I had the opportunity to chat to Left For Red about their upcoming performance and also their plans for the next few months which includes finally releasing their new album.
You’re playing HRH Metal later on today, are you looking forward to it?
Oh yeah, we’re really looking forward to it. We haven’t played a gig since November last year so we’re looking forward to getting back on stage.
Are there any bands that you are looking forward to seeing?
Decapitated are one of the big ones, Master Charger and Headpress are some others we’re looking forward to see them. Practically the whole lineup as today has a really solid lineup full of bands we’re really looking forward to seeing.
This is the second year the festival has sold out. Can you think of any reasons why?
Probably from word of mouth and the words spread about it. It’s a really good festival and quite unique in how it’s laid out and the bands they book. We’ve played a couple of HRH events and they’re always really professional and have great crowds.
What are your plans for the next 6 to 12 months?
We’ve got an album ready to go finally. We’re getting our album about before Tool which has become a running joke with us! But it’s finally coming out in April and we’re playing a headline release show at the O2 Institute 2 in Birmingham on the 6th April which will be good. We’ve got some really good bands supporting us so that’ll be a great night. We’re playing a few festivals later on this year including a few gigs with some friends which we can’t announce at this point. We’re keeping busy and it’ll be great to get out and start playing again with some new material in our set.
If you had to pick next years headliner, who would you pick?
With the bands they’ve announce we’d think it’d be Amon Amarth but we’ve been told on good authority that it’s not. Apart from that, we’re not sure as you’ve got a really good spread of bands already playing it.
What’s one thing you wish someone told you before you started?
The amount of time money and effort it’s going to take. And that it sends you bald! You need a lot of patience and be prepared for disappointments. Good management is key as well to getting up the ladder.
Tea or coffee?
Coffee in the morning and tea in the afternoon. Tea is a bit like Weetabix to give you the boost and coffee is the energy shot.
