Prior to their performance at HRH Metal, I had the opportunity to chat to BloodYard about their upcoming performance and also who they would pick, if given the choice, as next year’s headliner.
You’re playing HRH Metal later on today, are you looking forward to it?
Absolutely, we’re really looking forward to it. We’ve known about it for nearly a year and it’s a great time slot for us with a good stage so hopefully get some heads banging. Ours will be, so hopefully everyone else’s will be. It’s been a good weekend so far and so long as nobody gets hurt then it’s all good.
What was one of your highlight bands from yesterday?
Internal Conflict were really good yesterday and Raging Speedhorn were fantastic. Both bands we’ve known for a while and they always put on a good show.
This is the second year the festival has sold out. Can you think of any reasons why?
Word of mouth we’d say. There’s not a lot of walking between the stages and it’s really easy to get to and there’s loads of hotels around the venue as well. There’s a really loyal fanbase as well so there’s always some people who you’re going to see year on year.
If you had to pick next year’s headliner, who would you pick?
Dream Theater would be really cool. They’ve got a new album coming out very soon and we’re really looking forward to hearing it. It seems like a more easy going album than previous ones and should be very good. Anyway, Carcass or At The Gates would be a good call we think. Some bands like that would be very good to see here.
What’s one thing you wish someone told you before you started?
That’s a really hard question. Maybe that it’s going to be really hard work and you need to practice and practice like mad.
Tea or coffee?
Tea we’d say. Yorkshire Tea is really good.
