#RoadToMetalDays2018 – Asylum Pyre

Always aiming to put the smaller / less well known bands front and centre, welcome to our series featuring acts on the New Forces stage at this year’s Metal Days festival in Slovenia, as well as a couple of bands who are being featured for a second time having trodden the boards of that stage in earlier years. We’ll be there with them and hopefully will catch as many of them live as possible so we can tell you how good they are! Tickets for the five-day (plus warmup!) event are still available for around £135. It takes place in Tolmin, Slovenia, from July 21st to 28th.

What is your band’s name and where are you from?

Johann: Asylum Pyre and we are from Paris, France.

When did you first find out about Metal Days?

Johann: Since the beginning I think. Great bands and great feedback from first edition!

How did you end up on the bill for this year’s festival?

Johann: Our singer Oxy Hart went last year to the Metal Days festival with her friends of the french death melodic band Nemost. They talked of us to the organisation, and here we are! Thanks to them, by the way.

Is this the furthest you’ll ever have played from home and/or the biggest gig you’ve ever played? If so, what was the furthest/biggest before now?

Johann: I don’t know. We went quite far in the east while touring with Luca Turilli’s Rhapsody. I have to check the distances! We played in front of great audiences during this tour and when opening for Doro but this may be one of the biggest audiences here at Metal Days yes, for sure!

Which bands on the bill are you most looking forward to seeing?

Johann: So many! Judas priest, Children of Bodom, Jinjer, Ensiferum, Alestorm, Behemoth…

Oxy: Well, most of them, in fact. Plus, we will have the pleasure to support New Forces bands, such as our fellows Malemort, from Paris.

Other than bands, what are you most looking forward to about Metal Days?

Johann: Fun! And sharing our music and its power with plenty of people. Asylum Pyre is on its way and we have so many things to share with you!

Oxy: We are working hard on our fourth album to come in the next months. We are currently mixing it and it sounds awesome. We can’t wait to share it! Maybe we are going to play new songs at Metal Days?!

Before you hit the stage: Monster energy drink or Laško beer?

Johann: Monster for the drummer and beer for the other members :D

Oxy: It’s quite important to taste every kind of food and local sweets when you’re traveling. Then, Laško is a must have.

We’ll see you there!

Thank you very much!
